Fly Fishing.
A REEL EXPERT CAN TACKLE ANYTHING.
The ultimate angling day out – ditch the suit and don your waders for a day of fly fishing in the fresh waters of Scotland. There’s no better relaxation for the hectic pace of city life.
Tune up your skills or pick up a rod for the first time at the Trout Loch and when salmon is in season, there is little that will compare to the thrill of fishing on the open waters of Scotland.
The Country Sports Centre is specialised in teaching all forms of modern fly casting techniques.

Eoin Fairgrieve is a fully qualified fly casting member of the Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors (A.A.P.G.A.I) and a former World Team Spey Casting Champion.
Eoin specialises in teaching all aspects of modern fly casting and fly fishing techniques and has taught over 12,000 children all aspects of fly fishing including entomology, habitat & conservation. Eoin has travelled around the world demonstrating spey casting and conducting fly fishing seminars and is a regular features writer and photographer for some of the leading fly fishing publications in Europe, USA and South America.
Clay Pigeon Shooting.
“Keep a close eye on the target”.
Swing the barrel, get the disc in sight and put your target shooting skills to the test. There are few country pursuits that offer as much of a thrill as shooting. A traditional game of skill enjoyed for years in the countryside, clay pigeon shooting is a challenging test of your hand eye coordination and your reaction speed.
For both novice and expert shots alike, there's something for everybody to enjoy at the Country Sports Centre.
Our introduction lessons include: • The importance of safe gun handling • Master eye dominance test • Correct stance and target alignment • Basic to advanced principles of tracking and hitting clay targets • Firing at a selection of targets throughout the shooting ground • Overview of the session from your instructor
All guns, cartridges and safety equipment will be provided for the session.

Archery.
“A good archer is known not by his arrows but by his aim.”
Archery is a sport that doesn’t require strength, but rather style, technique and co-ordination. It is a great family and group activity for all ages.
Learn the stone-age-old sport and art of archery on our dedicated target range at SCHLOSS Roxburghe and under the friendly supervision of our qualified instructors.
Our introduction lessons include: • Stance: Correct position of the feet • Load: How to insert the arrow in the bow’s nock • Draw: Correct draw technique to load the bow • Aim: How to aim correctly toward the target • Release: How to release the arrow to achieve the best line of flight.
All bows, arrows and safety equipment will be provided for the session.
