The Exciting Opportunity

We are looking for a friendly and outgoing Full-Time Front Desk Assistant to join our wonderful Reception Team. This is a full-time position based on 40 hours a week, working 5 shifts over 7 days. Availability to work morning, evenings and weekends is essential.

Based at the heart of the hotel you are responsible for the first and last impression for our guests and will deliver an exceptional, seamless, and consistent guest service experience from arrival through to departure!
We offer a competitive salary of £10.90 per hour plus gratuities* equating to potential earnings of £12.05 per hour (based on a 40-hour week) and excellent employee benefits.

*Gratuities (tips) are an additional charge added onto services and are paid to all employees on a pro-rata basis regardless of your role. The amount is not guaranteed and is depended on service charge paid.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • You will perform the check-in and check-out of arriving and departing guests according to given standards
  • You will take ownership of any guest request which comes your way seeing it through until completion
  • You will engage and interact with our guests creating magical and memorable moments during the time at SCHLOSS Roxburghe
  • Maximises internal communication, adapts to new working methods and supports all key players to ensure a smooth guest journey
  • You will ensure that the housekeeping team are kept up to date throughout your shift about any room changes or room moves, special amenities, and early/late departures
  • In an emergency situation or fire alarm activation, you will print the correct reports for reception and follow the Fire procedure and Health & Safety protocols at all times
  • You will ensure the reception area and all public areas are well presented and at the expected cleanliness of the hotel
  • Make room, restaurant, bar and golf reservations
  • You will monitor the incoming phone calls and email correspondence for reception throughout your shift
  • Responsible for completion of a daily checklist
  • You will document and communicate all noteworthy events of the shift and delivers an effective handover with the other operational departments
  • You will perform basic cashier duties
  • You will support the Food & Beverage and Housekeeping teams when required
  • Recognise that operations must run 24 hours, 7 days a week, without interruption
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion towards guests and colleagues to be maintained at all time

Your Knowledge & Capabilities

  • You are an excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • You are confident with problem solving and complaint handling
  • You are detail-oriented; accurate data entry and strong computer skill
  • You are enthusiastic and have a positive personality with the ability to build genuine and trusting relationships with guests and colleagues

Proven Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in a comparable position or industry, desirable
  • Experience in a customer or guest facing role desirable
